Army to unveil new defense achievements soon

Iran will unveil new defense achievements during a military parade which will be held on September 22 to commemorate Iran’s Sacred Defense Week, Army Commander Ahmad Reza Pourdastan announced on Friday.
In Iran, the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war is known as the Sacred Defense, and Sacred Defense Week is held on the anniversary of the beginning of the war.

A military parade is held at the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, the Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the south of the metro Tehran area each year to commemorate the occasion.

Sacred Defense Week begins on Shahrivar 31 in the Iranian calendar (September 22 this year), which is the day Iraq invaded Iran and began the imposed war on the country in 1980.

Various units of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Iran’s Armed Forces, and the Islamic Republic of Iran Police participate in the military parade.

Pourdastan said that new domestically manufactured medium-range and long-range air defense systems would be put on display for the first time during the ceremony.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that the Army would stage a military exercise in the near future in southeastern Iran in order to practice the tactics of asymmetrical warfare.
