Islamic Republic of Iran soon to launch new satellite into orbit

Islamic Republic will soon launch a Fajr (Dawn) satellite into orbit, Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said.

The satellite will be launched in late May, most probably on May 23, the DM said.

The indigenous Fajr satellite is a reconnaissance satellite powered by solar energy.

It will reportedly be placed in elliptical orbit of 400 km in radius, and will remain in space for a year and a half.
