Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Commander: Enemies Never Dare to Threaten Iran

IRGC Commander

Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy General Alireza Tangsiri emphasized the IRGC forces’ full preparedness to defend Iran’s maritime borders against any enemy aggression, and said the enemies don’t even dare to take a threatening look at the country.
“Today the IRGC Navy forces are protectors of stability and security in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz region honorably and powerfully and they have not and will not allow the enemies to show off,” Tangsiri said on Monday.

“Thanks God, and thanks to the blood of martyrs (of the 8-year Iraqi imposed war against Iran) and the wise leadership of Vellayat-e Faqih (religious leadership), we are at a level of preparedness that the enemy even doesn’t dare to have a threatening look at the holy borders of the Islamic Republic”, let along invading it, he underlined.

The Iranian Army and IRGC naval forces have tight cooperation in controlling the country’s waterways and protecting Iran’s interests inside territorial waters and in the high seas.

The IRGC was appointed to defend the Persian Gulf security in 2008. The Iranian army has been tasked with controlling the Sea of Oman and the Caspian Sea, while the full responsibility for defending the Persian Gulf security has been entrusted to the IRGC.

Iran has threatened to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz at the entrance to the oil-rich Persian Gulf if its nuclear program is targeted by air strikes that Israel and the United States reserve as an option.

Situated between the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz is a passageway for 40% of the world’s oil production, including much of the crude extracted in Saudi Arabia.
