Israel attacks target Palestine unity

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki has urged the global community to help Gazans in the face of Israel’s atrocities, saying the regime attempts to separate the besieged land from Palestine.

The top Palestinian diplomat stressed the need for a comprehensive international decision to provide assistance to Gazans amid the Israeli regime’s brutal massacre of women and children in the densely-inhabited strip.

Maliki made the comments in an address to a foreign ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement’s (NAM) Palestine Committee, which kicked off in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Monday.

The Palestinian foreign minister further said the residents of Gaza have had enough of such Israeli attacks over the past years, calling on the NAM member states to join hands and help put an end to these conflicts.

The Tel Aviv regime seeks to break up Palestine’s unity, said Maliki, adding the latest Israeli offensive on Gaza is aimed at splitting the coastal enclave from the rest of Palestine.

Maliki also censured Israel for its flagrant violations of international and humanitarian laws in the assaults on Gaza, saying members of NAM’s Palestine Committee should leave no stone unturned to set the stage for the perpetrators of such crimes to face international trial.

The Palestinian official further called on world countries to avoid supplying arms to Israel as the regime would use the weapons to kill Palestinians.

More than 1,820 Palestinians have so far lost their lives and some 9,400 others have been injured since the beginning of the offensive on July 8.

The Israeli military says 3 Israeli civilians and 64 soldiers have been killed in the conflict, but Palestinian resistance movement Hamas puts the fatalities at more than 150.
