Israel continues Lebanon air violation

Over the past two days Israeli warplanes have continued their violation of the Lebanese airspace, flying over border areas in the country’s south.

A statement released by the Lebanese army on Monday said two Israeli aircraft flew at a medium altitude over Bekaa and Keserwan since the early hours of the day, a Press TV correspondent reported.

On Sunday, Israeli warplanes performed intensive and repeated flights over the regions of Arquoub, Hasbaya, west Bekaa and Iqlim al-Tuffah, where three overflights took place in less than two hours.

The aerial violations were accompanied by Israeli armored patrols along the UN-demarcated Israeli-Lebanese border, known as the Blue Line. Meanwhile, several explosions were reportedly heard inside the Shebaa Farms, where an Israeli military exercise is underway.

Last month, Israeli ministers approved a withdrawal from the northern part of the disputed village of Ghajar as required under UN Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 conflict between Israel and Lebanon.

Israel, however, has refused to fully pull out unless the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon takes over total control of the village.
