Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Qurdaha, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – launched a surprise assault on the northern villages in Jabal Nabi’ Younis (Prophet Jonah Mountains), killing several enemy combatants from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Coastal Brigade.”

Following a series of intense firefights, the Syrian Armed Forces powered through the Islamist rebel defenses and imposed full control over the villages of Khandaq Al-Khamou, Mafraq Beit Abu Reesha and Khirbat Jubb Al-Za’rour, which are located directly north of the strategic hilltops of Jubb Al-Ahmar that were recently contested by Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army’s “Liwaa Suqour Al-Ghaab.”

The map below shows the recent gains made by the Syrian Armed Forces; these sites that border the Al-Ghaab Plains of northwestern Hama were mostly under the control of the Islamist rebels up until the pro-government forces launched a counter-offensive in October:

Currently, the Syrian Armed Forces are pushing their way north towards the strategic town of Al-Sirmaniyah in the Idlib Governorate; this aforementioned town is located just south of the imperative city of Jisr Al-Shughour that was captured by Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) in May of this year.
