Israel in ‘weakest position’ after Middle East revolutions: Jalili

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili says Israel is in its ‘weakest position’ following the developments that have brought down its allies in the region.

“With the occurrence of popular uprisings in the region and the successive falls of dictatorial regimes, especially the collapse of [former dictator Hosni] Mubarak in Egypt, the Zionist regime is in its weakest position,” Jalili said in a meeting with Secretary of Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Ahmed Jibril in Tehran on Sunday.

“Even though the enemies of the resistance front have mobilized all their efforts to save the Zionist regime from this strategic weakness, they will certainly be unsuccessful on this path,” the Iranian official added.

For his part, Jibril hailed Iran’s material and spiritual aid to the resistance movement of Palestine and said, “The Islamic Republic is the strategic hope of the Palestinian nation.”

“The pressure of some powers on the Islamic Republic shows that the regional developments and the spread of the Islamic Awakening have increased Iran’s capabilities against the US and the Zionist regime,” the PFLP secretary added.

Jibril had earlier met with Iran’s Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani where the Iranian official said global powers have devised “an extensive scheme” in the region to damage independent countries and dismantle any type of resistance against the Zionist regime.

Popular revolutions in the region have, however, unfolded a “wide prospect in the struggle against the Zionist regime,” forcing Israel into a severe isolation, Larijani said last Wednesday.
