Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the world should not recognize a national Palestinian unity government.

“I call on all responsible elements within the international community not to hurry to recognize the Palestinian government that Hamas is part of,” Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting on Sunday.

In April, the Fatah movement and Hamas signed an agreement to end seven years of rivalry and from a unity government.

Israel has called the unity deal a blow to peace. The Tel Aviv regime has also suspended the so-called peace talks with the Palestinian Authority on April 24 and threatened to impose further sanctions against Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Palestinians are expected to announce members of the unity government on Monday.

Acting Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas said on Saturday that the new government will be formed of “technocrats and independents” and that it will reject violence. According to reports, the new government will have 17 ministers, five of them from Gaza. It will reportedly be led by Rami Hamdallah.

On Sunday, Yoav Mordechai, the head of Israel’s military administration in the Palestinian territories, said that Tel Aviv would not give travel permissions to three future Palestinian ministers to enter the city of Ramallah.

This is while Abbas said Israel is trying to hamper the establishment of the new government to punish Palestinians for uniting with the Hamas resistance group in Gaza.
