Israel spy satellite plan targets Iran’s nuclear talks: Analyst

358141_Iran-talksIsrael’s new spy satellite project is aimed at halting Iran’s nuclear negotiations with the Sextet of world powers, a political analyst tells Press TV.

In a Friday interview, Franklin Lamb commented on Israel’s recent launching of a military spy satellite ‘Ofek-10’ to conduct espionage activities on Iran’s nuclear energy program and anti-Israeli resistance groups in the region.

Tel Aviv seeks to “sidetrack” Tehran’s nuclear talks “in any way possible,” Lamb stated.

He also warned that Israel is probably weighing other alternatives “to mess up these talks.”

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the US, France, Britain, Russia, China – plus Germany wrapped up their latest round of the talks aimed at reaching a comprehensive deal on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program on April 9. Iran and the six countries agreed to meet again on May 13.

Lamb argued that despite Israel’s effort, the global community and Iran are “optimistic” that they will finally achieve an agreement.

According to Israeli media outlets, the Israeli spy satellite project is financed by US-based Zionist casino owner and billionaire, Sheldon Adelson, who is also a well-known financier of American pro-Israel lobby groups.

Israel, which is believed to possess as many as 400 nuclear warheads and does not allow any inspection of its nuclear activities by international regulators, is the leading propagandist against Iran’s peaceful nuclear energy program that has been under close supervision by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
