Israeli forces storm Ramleh prison hospital

Israeli special forces unit called Masada stormed the Ramleh hospital prison and assaulted sick prisoners and damaged their property, the Ahrar Center for prisoners’ and human rights studies said.

Director of the Ahrar Center Fouad Al-Khafsh said that the special forces brutally stormed the prison on Tuesday, June 22. He explained that the prisoners described what happened inside the prison as a “tsunami” in reference to the violence and barbarism which the unit used during the break-in.

The prisoners stated in a letter to the center, “The intrusion occurred under the pretext of looking and searching for prohibited items, as they broke wheelchairs and caused a tsunami in the section.”

In addition, the Zionist forces penalized prisoners with financial fines and closed up the section, preventing sick captives from leaving their rooms, which exacerbated their suffering and placed their lives in danger.

In their letter, prisoners appealed to the Palestinian government and human rights organizations to stand with them in their increased suffering.

Khafsh in turn warned of the deteriorating conditions of prisoners after the hospital break-in and confiscation and destruction of their property, including wheelchairs, holding the Israeli prison authority fully responsible for the deterioration of the health conditions of prisoners in Ramleh after the attack.

He stressed that the intrusion and brutal abuse of sick prisoners is a violation of international law and human rights, especially since the prisoners suffer from chronic and serious diseases, and are threatened with death at any given moment.

The director pointed out that there are 30 incarcerated patients languishing in the Israeli hospital, some of whom suffer from kidney failure, heart disease, cancer, and other serious diseases and chronic illnesses, adding that they also suffer from a policy of deliberate medical neglect by the prison authority.

He emphasized that the Masada unit is one of the most brutal Israeli units, soldiers appearing during the incursions and attacks on prisoners as human monsters attacking everything in front of them, without giving any consideration to prisoners’ health and mental conditions.

Khafsh noted that Israeli doctors play an investigator role with the patients most of the time, and offer them treatment in exchange for a confession or agreement to be exiled from their country.
