Israeli Puppet Egypt closes Rafah border crossing with Gaza

Egyptian authorities have once again sealed a key border crossing with the Israeli-besieged Palestinian Gaza Strip.

The Rafah crossing, which is the only gateway out of the blockaded Palestinian territory bypassing Israel, was open on Monday and Tuesday for humanitarian cases, and was closed on Wednesday.

According to the crossings and borders department of the Gaza Ministry of Interior, as many as 1,010 passengers left the blockaded territory in the two days and 1,433 individuals entered the coastal enclave.

The individuals left the besieged territory were mainly patients, holders of foreign visas and holders of Egyptian and foreign passports, the ministry said.

The ministry also noted that Egyptian authorities denied entry to 63 passengers without explaining the reasons for the move.

Monday was the first time the crossing, vital for besieged Palestinians, opened since an Egyptian court labeled as a “terrorists” organization the Islamic resistance movement, Hamas, which administers the war-ravaged territory.

Gaza has been under crippling Israeli siege since 2007.
