Another US assassination drone attack has struck Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar Province, killing at least four people on the ground.

Local government officials announced on Saturday that those killed in the late Friday night drone strike were suspected militants.

Provincial Police Chief General Abdul Habib Syed Khel said the airstrike was carried out in the Ghazibad district.

The local security official further added that two other suspected militants were also injured in the airstrike.

He also identified one of those injured in the attack as a Pakistani militant.

The anti-government armed militant groups in the country have not yet commented on the drone attack.

The Kunar Province is among the more volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan since it shares a border with Pakistan’s restive tribal regions.

The development comes as at least eight more suspected militants were also killed following a yet another US drone strike in North Waziristan tribal region early Saturday morning.

The US conducts its targeted killing campaign through drone strikes in several Muslim nations such as Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Somalia.

Washington claims the targets of the drone attacks are militants, but local officials and witnesses maintain that civilians have been the predominant victims of the attacks over the past few years.

The United Nations and several human rights organizations have identified the US as the world’s number one user of “targeted killings,” largely due to its drone attacks in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
