Italian business delegation to visit Iran soon

An Italian business delegation will soon visit Iran to explore investment opportunities in the Islamic Republic.

The delegation, headed by Chairman of the Italy-Iran Chamber of Commerce Rosario Alessandro, will start a four-day visit to Iran on Saturday, said the press office of the Iranian Embassy in Rome.

The delegation will hold bilateral meetings with their counterparts from Iran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines.

The Italian businessmen will also meet with the president of Iran investment organization, Saeed Nikzad Larijani, and some officials at Iran’s Industry, Mines and Trade Ministry.

They will also take part in a conference aimed at introducing economic, commercial and foreign investment potentialities in Iran.

The administration of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has been seeking to expand bilateral economic cooperation with European countries.

In December 2013, Rouhani expressed Iran’s readiness to promote relations with Italy to the “highest level possible.”

“The current relations between Iran and Italy do not meet the expectations of both nations; and the existing potentials of both countries must be used to expand ties,” Rouhani said in a meeting with Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino in Tehran.

He added that Italy has been an important partner for the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that helping Italy meet its energy demands has always been a top priority in Tehran-Rome ties.
