Italian public transport workers have gone on strike to protest against government labor reforms, affecting underground railway, tram, train and bus services in the capital, Rome, and other cities.

A four-hour strike began in Rome’s public transport network at 08:30 local time (0630 GMT) on Monday, bringing services to a halt.

Strikes also began in the central city of Bologna and Naples in the south at 09:30 local time and will last until 13:30. Similar protest action was due during the evening in the northern cities of Milan and Turin, where public transport services are scheduled to be halted between 18:00 to 22:00.
