Jafari: Iran’s Deterrence Bans Enemies from Thinking to Attack

Commander of the Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari stressed on Sunday the need to enhance Iranian defense capabilities in the Gulf.

During a ceremony to inaugurate IRGC’s fifth naval zone in the southern port city of Bandar Lengeh in Hormuzgan Province – Imam Baqer (AS) Base of naval force, Jafari said that the event came within the framework of Iran’s strategy to enhance its military capabilities in the three Iranian islands and regional water in the Gulf.

The fifth zone operations will cover an area from Qeshm Island and Naze’aat Islands region to the western waters of the Kish Island in the Persian Gulf region.

Jafari referred to the fifth naval zone as one of the most sensitive and strategic frontlines of Iran to ensure stability in Hormuz Strait and the Iranian islands – Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa – where naval infantries will be deployed in total readiness.

Jafari added that enforcing Iranian defense capabilities in the region will prevent any threat by enemies in the Gulf, where deterrence power will ban them from thinking to launch any assault against Iran.

Iran has repeatedly called for withdrawal of foreign military troops from the region, reasoning that their presence will only undermine the security of the strategic waterway of Hormuz Strait.
