1000s in London protest Israel Gaza assault in UK

People in London have participated in another pro-Palestinian demonstration to express solidarity with people of Gaza facing Israeli bombardment of the besieged territory, Press TV reports.

The protest march in the British capital on Saturday was led by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) just outside Downing Street. The ralliers called on the government to halt Britain’s shipment of arms to the Israeli regime.

While there has been less press coverage in this latest round of Israeli atrocities in the Gaza Strip, protesters across Britain have come out week after week to condemn Tel Aviv regime’s onslaught on the Palestinian enclave.

Protesters are demanding sanctions against the Israeli regime as well as a halt to arms shipments to Tel Aviv.

“We can’t see any reason why the government can justify continuing to arm Israel and not abiding by the international law,” said Sarah Colborne, the chair of the PSC, who also attended the rally.

She also blasted the media bias by the British media, particularly the state-funded BBC, and challenged why the UK press is not properly covering the Israeli assault on Gaza.

Colborne emphasized that the protest movement in the UK is also about putting pressure on companies “not to become complicit and not to profit from Israel’s war crimes.”

The activist further insisted that the British public opinion is “very clear” about the Palestinian issue, adding, “We support Palestinians’ struggle for human rights and for freedom, so we need to keep the pressure increasing on our government until they actually listen to our voices.”
