Jerusalemite destroys his house to avoid fines

The Jerusalemite Citizen Osama Hussein Shweiki destroyed, on Sunday, his 96 Sq.m. house located in Althori neighborhood in Jerusalem, fearing the payment of new fines, under the pretext of building without a permit.

Shweiki built his house in 2005. However, in the year 2009 Shweiki was fined 96 thousand NIS and ordered to demolish his house. The house owner appealed against the order and managed to postpone the order three times.

Shweiki said “I was committed to the fine payment. However, the court issued a new indictment for not carrying out the demolition order, so I was forced to demolish my own house with my own hands to avoid a new fine and a three years imprisonment sentence.” He added that he has rented a new house in Jerusalem to live in it with his wife, two kids, brother and his mother.
