Joining EU would be a nightmare for Turkey

A commentator tells Press TV that seeking the membership of European Union will bring no real political or financial benefits for Turkey.

The comment comes as German Chancellor Angela Merkel at a joint news conference with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Monday said she remains “skeptical” about Turkey’s accession to the European Union.

Turkey has been seeking to gain accession to the 27-member European bloc since 2005 but its EU membership bid has been thwarted by vehement opposition from key members France and Germany.

Press TV has conducted, in its “Top Five” program, an interview with Chris Dorsey, an economic and political commentator in Richmond, to shed light on the issue. Following is the rough transcription of the conducted interview:

Press TV : Accession to the EU still remains just a dream for the Turkish government. How much of their policy needs to be a dearing to the EU and that of the West for them to finally bring this dream in to fruition?

Dorsey : Well, thank you for having me and judging from what’s going on economically in the eurozone, I would say anybody looking to join the European Union would be having a night mare instead of a good dream.

I just want to begin by stating what exactly is the European Union. European Union is a governmental body of the European Central Bank, the ECB, and the member state I guess, one of the strongest economies; the biggest economy in the eurozone is Germany.

Their government is merely a puppet for the European Central Bank and the Prime Minister Angela Merkel is a mouth piece for the owners of Bank for International settlements which control the European Central Bank.

So I am not sure why anyone would want to join such a crumbling organization, but I would say that the Prime Minister of Turkey and the Prime Minister of Germany, they represent banking interests and do not represent any of the feelings or the will or the needs of the people of their country.

Press TV : No matter how you described the European Union though, the Turkish government has jumped through hoops to try and get European powerhouse as like Germany on its side for the accession, however, it is not happening. What more does Turkey have to do in your opinion to become a part of the EU?

Dorsey : I would say you are correct in stating that Turkey is militarily and financially jumping through hoops for the owners of the European Central Bank and their military arm, NATO; I would say, I am not sure that this Cyprus issue is anything but a red herring, but I do not know.

I would say that the government of Turkey is all way inextricably linked to the European Union through financial agreements and this just seems like a dog in a pony show to me …just follow the money and you find that all these politicians, whether they be they are all the puppets of the Bank for International settlements and the Federal Reserve Bank and the European Central Bank.
