Jordanians protest against Israel aggression in Gaza

373648_Jordan-rallyThousands of people have taken to the streets in the Jordanian capital, Amman, to protest against Israel’s atrocities in the Gaza Strip.

The demonstration came on Friday, with protesters expressing solidarity with the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas.

The protesters chanted slogans against the Tel Aviv regime and urged the Jordanian government to annul its peace treaty with Israel. They also asked the government to expel the Israeli ambassador to Amman.

“We are here to express our anger at what is happening to our brothers in Gaza, and to the crimes and violations committed against them, while the Arab and international community are watching and do not intervene, and we are here to condemn the Arab complicity,” said Belal al-Aqaydeh, a protester.

Demonstrators also condemned the Egyptian government for closing the Rafah border crossing into the Gaza Strip.

The demonstration came as the death toll from Israel’s 25-day aggression against Gaza has risen to more than 1,500. Over 8,000 others have been also wounded.

On Friday, the Tel Aviv regime unilaterally ended a 72-hour ceasefire that had been brokered by the United Nations to allow Palestinians to bury their dead and treat the wounded.

Meanwhile, Israeli tanks struck a major shopping center and residential area in southern Gaza, killing dozens of Palestinians. Some 200 others were injured.

The Israeli military says it has so far lost more than 61 of its troops in clashes with the Palestinian resistance fighters, but Hamas says over 146 Israeli soldiers have been killed since July 8.
