Jundallah terrorist executed in Iran

Hanging-RopeIran says it has hanged a convicted member of the Jundallah terrorist group, which has claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks in the southeastern parts of the country.

Police commander of the Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan Gholam-Ali Nekou’ei told Fars News Agency that “Abdolhamid Rigi, a member of Rigi’s terrorist group was hanged yesterday morning in the main prison of Zahedan [the capital of Sistan-Baluchestan Province].”

The executed member had been convicted of various charges including “kidnapping and staging war against God (Moharebeh).”

Meanwhile, the police commander added that the convicted member was not the brother of Jundallah leader Abdolmalek Rigi.

The Jundullah leader has a brother of the same name on death row in Iran.

The Pakistan-based Jundallah terrorist group, which is believed to be closely affiliated with the al Qaeda organization, has claimed responsibility for numerous terror attacks in Iran the latest of which was the Oct. 18 attack in Sistan-Baluchestan Province.

The terror attack in the borderline region of Pishin left more than 40 Iranians, including 15 members of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), dead.

Shia and Sunni tribal leaders were also among the victims of the vicious attack.

Iranian officials accuse certain foreign countries including the US, Britain, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia of supporting Jundallah.
