Karroubi recognizes Ahmadinejad ‘government’

Senior Iranian opposition figure and defeated presidential candidate Mehdi Karroubi recognizes President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as head of government, reports said Monday.

“I recognize the president,” Fars News Agency quoted the cleric as saying.

Karroubi, a former Parliament (Majlis) speaker, has accused the government of rigging the presidential election in June 2009 in favor of the incumbent.

“I still remain critical [of the government],” he was quoted as saying.
