Iran’s foreign minister has once again slammed the Israeli regime’s aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip, saying Tel Aviv maintains a policy of systematically killing children and the elderly in the Palestinian territory.

“The Zionist regime is with villainous viciousness pursuing the killing of children and the elderly as a national policy,” Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday.

The Iranian minister criticized international organizations for remaining tight-lipped on Israeli atrocities in the blockaded coastal enclave and stressed the need for unity among Muslim nations in the wake of the Israeli aggression.

In the face of the Israeli atrocities and the typical silence of international organizations regarding these crimes, Zarif said, “It is crucial to focus on the capacities of the Islamic world and gaining a real understanding of Muslims abilities.”
The top Iranian diplomat also noted that the Islamic world is currently facing the “bitter reality” of the formation of anti-Islamic movements that spread “fratricide and strife” in the name of Islam.

The anti-Islamic movements carry out brutal acts in Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nigeria and other Islamic states and create discord among Muslims through sedition, he added.

The Israeli regime has been targeting the Gaza Strip with military attacks since July 8. The air, sea and land strikes have so far killed at least 1,755 people and injured over 9,200 others, according to Palestinian sources.

According to figures released by Gaza’s Health Ministry officials, among those killed were 398 children, 209 women and 74 elderly men.

Meanwhile, thousands of people have been staging demonstrations in different countries around the world in protest against the ongoing Israeli military aggression against Palestinians in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
