‘Kuwait will not forget Iran’s help’

A Kuwaiti minister has praised Iran’s assistance to Kuwaiti refugees during the seven-month long Iraqi occupation of the Persian Gulf state in 1990.

“We will not forget Iran’s unique role in condemning the invasion of Kuwait and hosting Kuwaiti refugees,” said Kuwait’s State Minister for Municipal Affairs Fadhel Safar in a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Kuwait Rouhollah Qahremani-Chabok on Thursday, IRNA reported.

Safar noted that his country is determined to expand its economic and bilateral ties with Iran.

Qahremani-Chabok also said that the Islamic Republic is ready to transfer its expertise in house and road constriction to Kuwait.

The ambassador noted that Iran could meet the industrial, food and construction needs of Kuwait and regional countries “due to its vast facilities and capabilities.”

Qahremani-Chabok, who officially started his tenure as head of the Iranian diplomatic mission in Kuwait in May, met with Kuwaiti Defense Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Tuesday.

Al-Sabah stressed that his country is against any attack on Iran.

“We will never accept any invasion against Iran and this issue is our red line,” he said.

The Kuwaiti minister added that his country will not pose any threat to the Islamic Republic, calling for the expansion of ties with Tehran.
