Kuwaiti FM Sends Message to Salehi to Stress Resolve to Expand Ties

Kuwaiti Ambassador to Tehran Majdi Ahmad Ibrahim al-Zafiri on Saturday submitted a message from his country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi to reiterate Kuwait’s determination to further expand the ties and cooperation with Iran.

In his message delivered by Zafiri to Salehi in a meeting in Tehran today, al-Sabah called for the further development and expansion of bilateral ties between the two neighboring countries.

Also during the meeting, Salehi referred to the friendly relations between the two Muslim states, and expressed the hope that a meeting of the two countries’ High Economic Commission would be held in the near future.

Zafiri, for his part, underlined that his country’s high-ranking officials, specially the Emir and Prime Minister are seriously resolved to bolster the close ties between the two nations.

Iran and Kuwait have sought to expand bilateral ties through exchanging several high-ranking delegations in recent months.

Salehi and his Kuwaiti counterpart in a meeting on the sidelines of the 10th ministerial meeting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in Kuwait in October called for the further expansion of the bilateral ties and use of the existing potentials and capacities in a move to boost mutual cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Salehi and al-Sabah explored avenues for the expansion of the two countries’ relations.

Salehi pointed to the two countries’ age-old ties, and stressed the two sides’ responsibility to prepare the grounds for tranquility, mutual trust and broader relations in a bid to promote welfare for the two countries’ people.

He stressed that meetings of the two countries’ joint economic commission are highly crucial for the expansion of Iran-Kuwait relations in different fields.
