Four people have died and three others gone missing in the landslide triggered by flood in Indonesia’s province of Gorontalo, officials say.

Reports say that the landslide occurred Friday night, hitting at least three villages in Bone Pantai and Bulawa districts.

“The mountainous topography in the affected areas makes them prone to landslide. The killed victims came from a family. Efforts to search for the remaining three missing were still underway. More than 200 people sought refugee from the disasters,” Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency said on Saturday.

Floods and landslides have repeatedly battered Indonesia in recent years during its wet season.

In March, a landslide killed six people and left 18 others unaccounted for on Indonesia’s Java Island.

In February, at least 13 people were killed and hundreds forced to leave their homes after landslides and floods triggered by torrential rains hit North Sulawesi province’s capital city of Manado.
