Large convoy of Syrian Army reinforcements arrive in SE Homs for Iraqi border offensive

A large convoy of pro-government reinforcements arrived in the southeastern countryside of Homs, Monday, the official wing of the National Defense Forces (NDF) reported tonight.

The pro-government convoy consisted of hundreds of soldiers from both the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and National Defense Forces that were previously deployed in different parts of the Damascus Governorate.

The reason for their deployment is to strengthen the government’s numbers in the Badiya region of southeast Homs; this area is currently contested and filled with US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters.

Unlike the eastern countryside of Al-Sweida, the Free Syrian Army and their US allies are not going to give-up the Badiya region of Homs without a fight.

Last week, the US-Jordanian Coalition proved they would not tolerate the government’s advance to the Iraqi border, despite the fact they are illegally occupying a region of the country without approval of Damascus or the United Nations.
