Larijani arrives in Sulaymaniyah amid Kurdish officials’ welcome

Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani arrived in Iraqi Kurdistan’s Sulaymaniyah City Friday morning amid warm welcome of former president and Secretary General of National Union of Kurdistan Jalal Talabani and other officials.

Former deputy prime minister and leadership council member of the National Union of Kurdistan Barham Ahmad Salih and a number of that party’s politburo were present in the reception ceremony of Larijani, according to our dispatched IRNA reporter.

The Iranian parliament speaker will after a meeting with Talabani head for Irbil, where he will discuss the most important regional developments with the Head of the Iraqi Kurdistan Autonomous Region Masoud Barazani, as well as that region’s parliament speaker and prime minister in separate meetings.

Larijani who has been in Iraq as of Tuesday this week has thus far met and conferred with Najaf sources of jurisprudence and the country’s top political officials, such as president, prime minister, parliament speaker, foreign minister and a group of party leaders and influential figures.

The Iranian parliament speaker has in this tour of the regional countries which started on last Sunday visited Lebanon and Syria before his arrival in Iraq, and discussed regional developments, especially the terrorism issue, with those countries’ high ranking officials.
