Last rebel bastion in Homs officially under Syrian Army control

The last batch of militants and their families departed from the Al-Wa’er District of Homs City for rebel-held parts of northern Syria, a military source reported to Al-Masdar News.

The twelfth batch of militants and their families being transported from Al-Wa’er, today, are the last group to leave the district, per the agreement set forth by the opposition and government.

As of Saturday morning, the formerly rebel-held Al-Wa’er District is finally under the Syrian government’s control after more than five years of war inside this part of the provincial capital.

Russian and Syrian military police are expected to enter Al-Wa’er in the coming hours to inspect the district and ensure its safety before opening it to the public.
