Rohani: Syria’s Resistant Nation Can Easily Pass Through Current Crisis

Iran’s President-elect Hassan Rouhani in a message to President Bashar al-Assad lauded the Syrian nation for its resistance against western plots, stressing that Syrians can easily leave behind the current critical situation and maintain their country’s territorial integrity.
“The great and resistant Syrian nation will go past the present stage and fully preserve its independence and territorial integrity,” the Iranian president-elect said in response to a message sent by President Assad to felicitate Rouhani on his victory in Iran’s June 14 presidential election.

The Iranian president-elect said the age-old relations between Iran and Syria show that the two countries are determined to confront the plots hatched by the enemies of the regional nations, specially the Zionist regime.

The Iranian president-elect further said the balance of power in Syria is in favor of the Syrian Army and government, noting that the resistance of the Syrian people has helped strengthen the Army.

Since March 2011 Syria has been in spotlight for unrests which started with popular protests for democracy, but rapidly turned into armed insurgency with organized attacks by well-armed gangs and terrorists against not just the Syrian police, border guards and army, but also civilians being reported across the country.

The US and its western and regional allies have long sought to topple Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his ruling system. Media reports said that the Syrian rebels and terrorist groups have received significantly more and better weapons in recent weeks, a crime paid for by the Persian Gulf Arab states and coordinated by the United States.
