Lavrov: The Current Approach of the Opposition Means It Works on Bloodshed in Syria to Continue

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, on Tuesday said Russia stresses on a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria through dialogue among all the parties away from any external interference.

Speaking in a press conference in the Jordanian capital, Amman, Lavrov asserted that the Geneva declaration will be the basis for a political solution to the crisis in Syria, stressing support to the mission of the UN envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi.

The Russian Foreign Minister reiterated that any change in Syria should be by the Syrian people themselves without any foreign interference.

He said if the opposition moves on with its current approach, this means that it is working on the bloodshed in Syria to continue, underscoring the necessity to move quickly to bring the violence to a halt.
