Iran following up Mena martyrs case

Chief of the Consular Delegation of Iran’s foreign ministry Hossein Kamalian, who recently visited Saudi Arabia for 2018 Hajj rituals, declared on Sunday that follow-up to Masjid ul-Haram martyrs’ case, is being followed up.

Kamalian told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that during the Hajj rituals this year, an opportunity was provided to bring the matter to the agenda and, in coordination with the Supreme Leader’ Representative Office and Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, the case to be pursued.

Through follow-ups, the names of the martyrs and their original heirs will be prepared and will be presented to Saudi Arabia soon to continue the procedure.

He also made the comments on the follow-ups to the Mena Martyrs. During the Mena incident in the year 2015, thousands of Hajj pilgrims from all over the world were killed and many Iranian pilgrims were martyred.

Kamalian also said that the lack of political relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia has complicated the pursuit of these issues.

Chief of the Consular Delegation of Iran’s foreign ministry said about the importance of the presence of the Consulate General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hajj, ‘We are now in special political conditions, although we believe that political relations could be considered as more solid and widespread support for Hajj rituals, and extend the existing level of harmony to higher grades and other areas.’
