Leader of Islamic Revolution attends Imam Hussein (PBUH) mourning ceremony

The sixth night of the mourning ceremonies, marking the martyrdom anniversary of Third Infallible Heir of Prophet Mohammad (Blessings of God upon him and his progeny), Imam Hussein (Peace be upon him), and his 72 steadfast companions (also known as the epic of Ashura) was held at Imam Khomeini Husseiniyeh on Thursday night in the presence of the Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, a number of officials, and thousands of people from all walks of life.

According to IRIB World Service, throughout this ceremony, Hojjatoleslam Rafiee referred to publication of facts on the landmark uprising of Imam Hussein (Peace be upon him) after the epic of Ashura, noting that the pioneers of this part of Imam Hussein’s uprising were the 4th Infallible Successor to Prophet Mohammad, Imam Sajjad (Peace be upon him), and the venerable sister of Imam Hussein, Hazrat Zainab (Peace be upon her), who made utmost efforts to elaborate on facts in the best possible manner.

In further remarks, Hojjatoleslam Rafiee noted that people of Kufa were familiar with the Prophet of Islam’s Household (Peace be upon them). So, Hazrat Zainab (Peace be upon her), in her historical sermon, which was delivered upon her entry to this city, criticized the residents of Kufa for their deception and for violation of their allegiance to the infallible grandson of Prophet Mohammad (Blessings of God upon him and his progeny), Imam Hussein (Peace be upon him).

Throughout this ceremony, eulogists presented elegies, commemorating and mourning the epic of Ashura.
