Leader of Islamic Ummah Imam Sayeyd AIi Khamenei: Iranians turned Gen. Soleimani’s martyrdom into opportunity

Referring to the enemies’ miscalculations on Gen. Soleimani’s assassination, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the enemies viewed his martyrdom as a threat to Iran, but the Iranians turned it into an opportunity.

Addressing people from Qom to mark the anniversary of January 9, 1978, popular uprising of locals in the central Iranian city of Qom against the West-backed dynasty of Pahlavi, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that the 1978 Qom uprising led to a chain movement that resulted in the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Such historical events that deliver high messages to the generations to come should be kept alive and be discussed, the Leader noted, adding that such events shouldn’t be consigned into oblivion and this uprising is among those events.

The Leader also pointed to the enemies’ miscalculations about Iranian people in the various eras, saying, “The wrong calculations of the United States are still going on, and the example of this is the martyrdom of Martyr Soleimani. They thought that by eliminating this martyr, the great movement of the Iranian nation would be extinguished, but we saw the great movement that took place this year on the second anniversary of his martyrdom.”

“Who was behind it? It was the work and hand of divine power that created this great movement and expression of devotion,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.

“The computing system of the enemies is certainly lax and impaired, and they cannot have a correct assessment of the Islamic Republic and thus, they make wrong decisions and fail, and they will fail again from now on,” the Leader highlighted.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said the deep animosity of the United States with the Islamic Republic stems from the Iranian people’s religious beliefs. “Maintain the religious zeal. The factor of saving the country in different trying times is the religious zeal of the Iranian nation. It is the religious zeal that turns threats into opportunities.”

“The martyrdom of a great figure like Martyr Soleimani was a threat from the enemy’s point of view, but the zeal of the Muslim nation of Iran turned this threat into an opportunity that everyone saw,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

One of the enemy’s agendas is to desensitize the Iranian people to the principles of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding, “The people are sensitive to the fundamental issues of the revolution, and if someone attacks these principles, the people will take a stand. The enemies also want to gradually reduce this sensitivity in the people. This is done through the extensive propaganda being carried out these days in cyberspace and other foreign mass media.”
