Leader of Oppressed People Imam Ali Khamenei allocates $100,000 for releasing needy prisoners

Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Sayyed Imam Ali Khamenei allocated a total of 3.13 billion rials (about $100,000) to help release prisoners jailed for committing unintentional offenses.

The donation was announced on Tuesday concurrent with ceremonies held on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan in Tehran and other cities across the country.

During the ceremonies, Iranians rush to help release poor prisoners by raising funds and providing them with the money they ought to pay to be freed.

Many high-ranking officials also participate in the ceremonies and make generous donations.
