Leader of Islamic Revolution’s viewpoint toward the status of women

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, on the verge of anniversary of auspicious birth anniversary of the infallible daughter of Prophet Mohammad (SAWA), Hazrat Fatemeh (SA), and Women’s Day in Iran, stated important remarks on the status of women in the Islamic community and the West.

In an address to hundreds of Iranian female elites on the occasion of Women’s Day, on Saturday, the Leader of Islamic Ummah, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, urged complete avoidance of authorization of the wrong, cliché and reactionary Western thoughts in regard to women’s affairs; reliance upon pure Islamic teachings; and consideration of the true issues of importance related to women as a must for preparation of a correct and appropriate strategy toward the important topic of women and family.

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei emphasized that one should through adoption of a new and precise view toward the life of Hazrat Fatemeh (SA), consider the prominent characteristics of this infallible figure; such as piety, chastity, and courage, and her presence in the most important arenas of life, as a role model, in the true essence of the word.

Today, the Iranian women, via considering the life of Hazrat Fatemeh (SA) as a role model, have attained a unique and elevated status. Hazrat Fatemeh (SA), the venerable wife of the First Infallible Successor to Prophet Mohammad (SAWA), Imam Ali (PBUH), due to her selflessness is an appropriate role model for women in the Islamic community. In fact, the selflessness of the venerable daughter of Prophet Mohammad (SAWA) is a remarkable and unique lesson for the true followers of the sacred religion of Islam. Hazrat Fatemeh brought up infallible figures such as the 2nd Infallible Heir of Prophet Mohammad (SAWA), Imam Hassan (PBUH), and the Third Infallible Imam of the Prophet of Islam’s Household (PBUT), Imam Hussein (PBUH).

Women in Iran, by considering Hazrat Fatemeh (SA) as their role model in different political and educational realms have achieved an elevated status.

Family is considered as an influential pillar in the community, and women, who constitute the foundation of family and the community, play a unique educational role. The presence of women in different phases of the life of Islamic Revolution, especially throughout the 8-year Sacred Defense, and the constructive phase, in addition to their presence in different managerial posts are due to the Islamic and humane outlook toward the status of women in the Islamic community. The crucial and vital role played by Iranian women in education of youths and their presence in warfronts throughout the imposed war prove that they truly consider Hazrat Fatemeh (SA) as their role model.

However, women hold a completely different status in the West. As the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei rightly pointed out the Westerners, due to a number of reasons, have misunderstood the issues related to women. However, they have promoted their faulty and destructive thoughts in regard to women in the world, and by rowdiness don’t allow others and their opponents to speak out.

The Western community has adopted a materialistic viewpoint toward women. The West tries to somehow institutionalize this viewpoint as a value via adoption of a number of approaches. The Leader of Islamic Revolution referred to this issue of concern and pointed out that by steadfastness against West’s wrong view toward women, one should liberate the mind from the obsolete and treacherous thoughts adopted by the West in regard to women’s affairs.
