Leader of Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Khamenei praises Iran’s 2012 Paralympians

Leader of the Islamic Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei has praised Iranian athletes for their outstanding performance at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

In a message on Sunday, Supreme Leader thanked all athletes who brought happiness to the Iranian nation during the international games.

Iran finished the 2012 Paralympic Games with 24 medals, standing in the 11th place of the tournament.

On the final day on Sunday, Iran’s seven-a-side football team defeated Brazil 5-0 in a third place playoff at the Olympic Park to pocket the country’s last medal in the London Paralympics.

Iran grabbed 10 gold medals, seven silver, and seven bronze medals in the event.

In the previous Paralympics in Beijing, Iran stood in the 22nd place with five golds, six silvers, and three bronze medals.

Iranian athletes participated in archery, athletics, cycling, five-a-side football, seven-a-side football, goalball, judo, powerlifting, shooting, swimming, table tennis, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair tennis.
