A senior Iraqi lawmaker disclosed that the Arab country’s forces will launch military operations to seize back the city of Mosul at the end of holy Month of Ramazan.

“The military operations to set free Mosul, capital of Nineveh province, will begin after Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of the Islamic holy fasting month of Ramadan,” Nahlah al-Hababi told FNA on Monday.

She reiterated that the Iraqi security forces are fully prepared to take back Nineveh as a large number of vehicles and advanced military equipment has been sent to the frontline in the province.

Meantime, another Iraqi official also confirmed that the Iraqi army will begin its military operations in the coming days and that they are waiting for air backup to be provided by new fighter jets.

Earlier today, the Iraqi army backed by the volunteer forces started massive operations to seize back Al-Anbar province from the control of the Takfiri terrorists.

“The large-scale operation of Iraq’s joint forces comprising army, volunteer forces, federal police and tribal forces kicked off early Monday,” Iraqi Defense Ministry Spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Rasoul said.

On Sunday, Brigadier General Rasoul confirmed that the country’s forces have surrounded the ISIL terrorists in the towns of Fallujah and Ramadi in Anbar province, where the army has opened a safe corridor for civilians before a planned assault to retake the territories.

“Iraqi joint forces are on the alert to liberate the embattled towns of Fallujah and Ramadi in Anbar, but no timeframe has been set yet,” Rasoul said

“The forces are considering the lives of civilians as thousands of innocents remain inside the towns,” he said in a statement, adding that a safe corridor has been opened for civilians to leave Ramadi.
