Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People urges stronger Navy

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People underlines the necessity of using all human resources and existing potential to build a better future for the Iranian Navy.

“This important task will happen with strong resolve, proper designing and up-to-date and constant management,” said Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with senior naval commanders on Sunday.

Commemorating November 28 which marks National Navy Day in Iran, the Leader described the Navy as a “strategic force.”

Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People  pointed to the current international developments and the “state of today’s political geography,” which makes it all the more necessary for Iran to strengthen its naval power.

Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People  praised the high morale and preparedness of all Navy personnel, lauding the close cooperation between the Navy and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.

At the beginning of the meeting, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibbollah Sayyari presented a report on the Navy’s combat and deterrence capabilities.

The admiral underscored the Navy draws on cutting-edge technology in its operations.

The Leaders comments come as the Navy’s Deputy Commander Rear Admiral Gholam-Reza Khadem Bigham announced last week that the Navy plans to increase its presence in international waters.

In the near future, more flotillas as well as the Jamaran destroyer will be deployed to the waters of friendly countries and international waters far away,” the commander told Mehr News Agency last Monday.

“As long as the sinister phenomena of piracy and sea terrorism exist in the Gulf of Aden, we will maintain our mission [there],” Khadem Bigham added.

“Today, Iran’s Navy is a strategic force, which must have a continuous and widespread presence in the region, particularly in the Indian Ocean,” he underlined.
