Feltman Meets March 14 Officials in Lebanon Visit

US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman is holding talks on Wednesday with several March 14 officials, in addition to other figures as a part of two-day visit to the country.

Feltman started the visits by a meeting to the head of National Struggle Front Walid Jumblat in Clemenceau on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday, Feltman is to meet with several March 14 officials over dinner at residence of MP Butros Harb.
Harb said that Feltman will also meet with Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea and other March 14 officials.

“It is in our interest in Lebanon to be informed about the American viewpoint on the events in the region”, the MP told Voice of Lebanon radio station.
“We don’t live on an island and we should interact with others”.

But Harb said that there was “no agenda for the talks” between the two sides.

Meanwhile on Wednesday, Feltman held talks with Speaker Nabih Berri and Maronite Archbishop of Beirut Boulos Matar.
Feltman first met with Matar and left after the one-hour meeting that was attended by US Ambassador Maura Connelly without making any statement.

He later headed along with Connelly to Ain el-Tineh to meet with Berri.
The US official will hold talks with President Michel Sleiman and Prime Minister Najib Miqati on Thursday.
