Leader’s Nowrouz message designates 1393 as year of economy & culture

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has named the new Iranian calendar year, 1393 solar hijri, as “The year of Economy and Culture, The year of National Resolve, The year of Effective (Jihadi) Management”.

According to IRIB World Service, in a message broadcast on Thursday night, at the start of the New Year or Nowrouz, which coincides with the Spring Equinox, he congratulated all Iranians as well as all those celebrating Nowrouz in different countries, and the families of the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution, and those who offered their lives and limbs for Islam and the Islamic Revolution.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the initial days of the New Year have coincided with the martyrdom anniversary of the Noblest-ever Lady, Hazrat Fatema Zahra (SA), the Immaculate Daughter of Prophet Mohammad (SAWA) – as per the lunar hijri calendar – and beseeched God Almighty that this coincidence should bring “more divine guidance and the blessings of Hazrat Fatema Zahra (SA) for the nation”.
On the prospects of the New Year, he said the two central issues of economy and culture, are more important than other issues. He said in order to realize the theme of this year — “The year of Economy and Culture, The year of National Resolve, The year of Effective (Jihadi) Management” – it is essential that both the people and government officials work hand-in-hand to achieve this objective.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the central and prominent role played by the Iranian people, and their active participation in the administration, development and modernization of the country. He pointedly added: “In both economy and culture, no progress would be made without the active participation of the people themselves, and that determined people from all walks of life must participate, and must contribute to progress in these fields”.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei went on to emphasize the need to use past experience in future decision-making. He said lessons learnt in the past should be borne in mind when making decisions for the future. He went on to assess the degree of success and degree of realization of last year’s motto – “The Year of Political and Economic epic”. He said that in the calendar year 1392 that ended on March 20, a political epic was certainly achieved with the massive participation of people in the presidential elections of June, and people’s participation in popular national rallies and marches last year.”
The Leader added: “The policies of a resistant economy, form the theoretical basis for an economic epic, and with the adoption of these policies, the stage has been set for redoubled efforts to boost the economy.
In his message on the occasion of Nowrouz , he beseeched God Almighty for health, happiness, spiritual calm, progress and prosperity for all the Iranian nation, including young and old, men, women, and children.
