Speaking to IRNA exclusively, the Lebanese parliamentarian said that adoptioin of the WAVE Act by the UN member states added another victory to the history of Iranˈs Islamic Revolution.

On December 18, President Rouhani’s World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) proposal was overwhelmingly ratified at the UN General Assembly with 190 positive votes.

The WAVE Act calls on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.

Referring to the idea behind the WAVE Act as unique, Moussa said it would lead to a safe and moderate world without extremism, war and violence.

He said that President Rouhaniˈs plan was indeed reflection of a global demand for a world free from violence and extremism.

The Iranian President made the proposal in an address to the UN Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25.

Iranˈs WAVE Act urges UN member states to take “appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace and achieve international cooperation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character.”

According to the act, the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has to provide a report by the end of the 2015 on the latest measures which would be made until then by the world body to implement the WAVE resolution.

According to Moussa, the global welcome extended to President Rouhaniˈs proposal was indeed a failure for the Zionist regime and a victory for Iran.
