A senior Lebanese Sunni scholar has condemned the recent terrorist attack on a mosque in the Asir region of Saudi Arabia and said that Takfiris have proved that they are not just fighting Shi’ites but all Muslims.

Shaykh Maher Hammoud, the Sunni Friday prayers’ leader of the southern Lebanese city of Sidon stated that the realization of the destruction of Israel will occur when Muslims unite.

His Eminence added that the Arab-Islamic countries including Lebanon, have been caught in the quagmire of domestic problems, both big and small, which prevents the realization of their aspirations to destroy Israel. In our country, problems such as the lack of services, administrative and political corruption and security problems, especially in the Ayn al-Hilweh region, and other issues such as living conditions has become critical.

In another part of his speech, Shaykh Hammoud spoke about the sedition created by terrorist groups in Syria and their threats to the Lebanese border and added: “By continuing to advance in Iraq, Syria and Yemen through the use of murder and violence, Takfiri groups will not abandon their seditious actions and their attacks against Islam and Muslims.”

The Lebanese Sunni scholar condemned last Thursday’s terrorist bombing of a mosque in the Asir Region of Saudi Arabia. He said that with this act, Takfiris have proved that they are not just at war against Shi’ites but rather, they are at war with all Muslims. “They attacked a mosque, which is considered a house of God, and shed the blood of Muslims,” he said.

According to Rasa, at least 15 people were killed by ISIL terrorists and many others wounded after a bomb attack targeted a mosque inside a security centre in Asir’s provincial capital of Abha while worshipers were praying at the mosque. The Saudi Interior Ministry said that the fatalities included 12 policemen and three workers.

In conclusion, Shaykh Hammoud stated that Islamic countries hope for the complete destruction of the Zionist regime. “With divine assistance and the support of the forces of the Islamic Resistance, who stand against the Zionists, there is no way except through the destruction of the occupying Zionist regime,” he said.
