Lebanon Recognizes Seal of Syrian Republic “Only”

The Lebanese Media Gathering organized on Saturday a peaceful rally in Beirut to express rejection towards the presence of the so-called Free Syria Army in Lebanon and to denounce the undermining of the Lebanese State institutions and security services.

The rally has been called for after Al-Arabiya Channel correspondent Mohammad Doghmosh landed in the Lebanese territories holding a passport sealed by the FSA.

Doghmosh has been authorized to enter Lebanon according to Interior Minister Marwan Charbel’s mediation following his arrest at Beirut Airport by the General Security, al-Sharq al-Awsat daily reported.

A mass of journalists and political activists participated in Saturday’s rally, along with families of the Lebanese kidnapped in Aazaz.

The speeches delivered stressed the refusal of any militant presence under a civil cover, demanding the Lebanese politicians to keep the country’s security and military agencies far from political and sectarian skirmishes.

Speaking to Al-Manar Website, journalist Ghassan Jawad said that the real message behind the rally is to express disapproval of any form of FSA militants’ presence in Lebanon, and to call on the government to block the movement of all its members who are concerned in security and military issues.

“This threatens Lebanon’s stability,” Jawad said, stressing that Lebanese army and security services are red lines.

For his part, head of Arab Movement Shaker al-Berjawi, told Al-Manar Website that what is going on is conspiracy plotted against Syria and its allies under the cover of “distancing Lebanon from the crisis.”

“They turned Lebanon into a logistic support arena for the militant gangs. Today, militants and weapons are transported to Syria via Lebanese MPs’ private cars. There are field hospitals open for militants in Syria,” Berjawi said.

“We do not demand closing borders with Syria, but preventing the infiltration of those holding illegal passports,” the Lebanese journalist Mohammad al-Bandar said, blaming the Lebanese government for Doghmosh’s incident.

“Release the Lebanese kidnapped in Aazaz”
Families of the Lebanese visitors kidnapped in Aazaz also blamed the Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, Premier Najib Mikati and Interior Minister Marwan Charbel for the illegal entrance of militants into Lebanon.

“If the relations between the Lebanese government and Aazaz reached this extent of coordination, they should demand the release of our kins,” a representative of the families told Al-Manar website reporter.

Armed rebels abducted eleven Lebanese citizens on May 22 last year while on their way home by land from visiting the holy shrines in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Two of them were released in August and September but the fate of the nine others remains unclear.
