Lebanon responds to Israeli jet breach

Lebanon’s military has put overflying Israeli warplanes under fire, as the country continues to witness the violations of its airspace on an almost daily basis.

The incident came as the aircraft were “flying over southern Lebanon,” AFP quoted a senior Israeli official as saying on Tuesday.

“…there was no damage,” added the official, asking not to be named.

Israel carries out such violations, claiming it has to maintain surveillance.

The incursions breach the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which obliges Israel to keep out of Lebanon following its 2006 war on the country which left some 1,200 Lebanese dead.
