The Levant Scholars Union affirmed that the fatwas of al-Qaradawi and the Wahabi Saudi Mufti and the statement issued by the Islamic World League which instigate bloodshed and label groups among Muslims as “kafirs” or heretics are far removed from Islamic principles, contradict the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Mohammad, stressing that these fatwas serve the enemies of the Islamic nation.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Union said that these recent fatwas are part of the undeclared war on Islam, and that the naiton’s scholars must take a clear position against fatwas of bloodshed and strife.

The Union said that the fatwa of Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the so-called head of the World Union of Muslim Scholars, in which he labeled groups of Muslims as heretics, means that the World Union has lost its credibility as a representative of Muslim scholars as it deviated from Islamic teachings, stressing that such fatwas seek to keep the nation in a state of strife, division and weakness.

The statement said that such fatwas don’t surprise the Union as they are linked to clear and well-known plots and issued by people who trade in people’s blood and promote a deviant and dark mentality.
