Majlis Speaker: EP should avoid taking counterproductive actions

European Parliament (EP) should avoid taking counterproductive actions, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday.

Speaking to Majlis employees, Larijani said ˈEP anti-Iran resolution about alleged violation of human rights, electoral process and other issues showed that they are deceived by anti-Iran lobbies.ˈ

Noting that EP resolution is full of misunderstandings, the Speaker added that some pressure groups are doing their best to make sedition and disturn the international scene.

EP passed a resolution on April 7 that expressed concern about the alleged violation of human rights in Iran.

It claimed that Iran’s presidential election in June 2013, which led to the victory of Hassan Rouhani, was “not held according to the EU democratic standards.”

Iran has dismissed the resolution as unrealistic and counterproductive at a time when the Islamic Republic and the EU have taken initial steps to normalize their relations.
