Major cleric lashes out at those who seek negotiations with US

Tehran Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Khatami strongly criticized those who seek holding negotiations with the United States.

Addressing thousands of worshippers at Tehran Friday Prayers, Ayatollah Khatami emphasized that the issues of relations with the US is exclusively in the hands of the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei and nobody else can do anything in this regard.

Referring to the anniversary of Iran-US relations severance (April 8), Ayatollah Khatami said Imam Khomeini welcomed this severance and there was a logic behind this welcoming which was the fact that Americans are in the habit of seeing themselves as the master and other nations as their slaves.

“ Since the time when bilateral relations were severed, the US has frequently, hidden and obvious, asked for resuming the relations,” said Ayatollah Khatami.

Quoting the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khatami said negotiations with the US means compromise but the Islamic Republic cannot give anything from the Islamic Revolution to the US to take something in return.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khatami strongly criticized Saudi Arabia and said this country has turned into the center of sedition in the region.

He said Saud Arabia is making sedition in Syria and has invaded Bahrain and is committing crime in that country.

He urged the officials of Saudi Arabia to stop their sedition and warned them that they would burn in the fire that they are building.
