Palestinian officials said Tamer Smour, 22, was hit in the chest in the northern city of Tulkarem on Friday, adding some 40 others were also injured by live ammunition and rubber bullets fired by Israeli forces.

In another clash near Ramallah, Israeli forces shot Udai Nafez, 19, in the chest. He later died in the hospital.

Similar clashes also erupted outside Israeli-run Ofer prison in the village of Beitunia.

Meanwhile, two Palestinians were also detained during an anti-Israel demonstration in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

The UN released figures last weekend showing that eleven Palestinians have been killed and some 600 others injured in West Bank clashes since July 23. The figure also said that ten of the victims were shot dead by Israeli forces while another was killed by an Israeli settler.

Israeli warplanes have been carrying out incessant airstrikes against the blockaded Gaza Strip since July 8. Thousands of Israeli soldiers also launched a ground invasion into the densely-populated territory on July 17.

More than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed and over 8,000 injured following 25 days of Israeli aerial and ground assaults on the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military says it has lost more than 60 of its troops in clashes with Palestinian resistance fighters, but Hamas says over 145 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the past 24 days. This is seen as the heaviest loss of life for the Israeli military in years.
