Media coverage of Ukraine crisis involves disinformation

The media coverage of the ongoing situation in Ukraine is flawed, involving “a lot of disinformation.”

Danny Schechter said in a Saturday interview with Press TV, “We’re all getting a lot of disinformation here. We’re not getting all the facts.”

He noted, “This is not a simple black-and-white situation; and unfortunately the media is treating it that way.”

The analyst criticized the absence of independent verification of the realities and argued that a myriad of elements need to be taken into consideration with regard to the Ukrainian crisis, including the economic factors, the Ukrainian natural resources, and NATO’s expansionist agenda, etc.

Tensions between Russia and the West heightened after Crimea declared independence from Ukraine and became part of the Russian Federation following a referendum on March 16.
