Meeting on World against Violence held in Tehran

n00150775-bMuslim figures, elites and intellectuals from across the world discussed “World against Violence”, proposed by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in the UN general assembly, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

In the meeting, headed by Hujjat-ol-Islam Ali Younesi, presidential advisor in religious minorities’ affairs, Sheikh Shadi al Mesri, representative of Lebanon’s senior Mufti demanded Muslim nations to return to the high teachings of Qur’an at the present time when the whole world of Islam is full of intrigues, terror attacks and threats by the US and Zionist regime.”

Salah el Din Rabbani, Head of Afghanistan’s High Peace Council, delivered a speech on the topic of the meeting saying that,” One of the biggest problems in the world of Islam is fueling sectarian issues which has been confronted by Iran’s World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.”

He proposed that ideology of coexistence has to be institutionalized in Islamic societies and Muslim scholars have to take a serious stance against Takfir (excommunication) and extremism.”

Mohammad al Assi, former prayer leader of Washington and member of the Supreme Council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought said,” Takfir is the issue that has endangered the world of Islam. It is a time that true Muslims are excommunicated.”

Other Muslim elites and social activists from Pakistan, Turkey and UK also provided their articles on the theme of the meeting.

Meeting on “World against Violence” was held on the sideline of 27th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran.

Participated by elites, intellectuals and prominent Muslim leaders from across the world, the three-day event is scheduled to discuss the theme of Qur’an and its role in Muslim unity.
